Connect the dots between your academic background, any relevant experience, and the programme you're applying to. The committee wants to see that this course is a logical next step, not a random choice. Name specific professors, labs or modules that attracted you — it proves you've done your research.
End with a purpose
Close by explaining what you intend to do with the degree. A concrete goal — whether it's a research direction, an industry role or a venture you want to build — leaves the reader confident that you'll make the most of the opportunity.
Finally, edit ruthlessly. Every sentence should earn its place, and a fresh pair of eyes will always catch what you've missed.
